A delegation from the United Nations and the World Bank has visited a factory manufacturing advanced and modern agricultural machinery in Dinajpur. The delegation members said they will work to connect the needs of agriculture and farmers, factories and the government.
The production of modern agricultural machinery with advanced technology will increase the availability of prices and time for farmers, and reduce import dependence. The UN and World Bank delegation made these comments after visiting the factory.
The delegation of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization visited the Uttaran Engineering factory in Dinajpur on Saturday morning. The delegation included Scott Jastis, a sustainable agricultural mechanism expert of the National Solidarity Program of the World Bank, the technical assistance coordinator of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization Mahmud Hossain, Managing Director of Uttaran Engineering Rafed ul Islam.
It was reported that most of the agricultural equipment coming from abroad is now imported from abroad. If these equipment is lost, its parts have to be imported from abroad. Due to this, domestic money is being wasted, time and spending are increasing. In such a situation, the locally produced agricultural machinery from the agricultural machinery factories of the country is showing hope, if the parts are wasted locally, they are available at low prices and easily. Employment is increasing in the country, import dependence is decreasing.
Mahmud Hossain, the technical assistant coordinator of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and former Additional Secretary of Bangladesh, said the UN has a provision for how farming can be expanded to the people. Agricultural mechanization is associated with the farmer field school. We are working on what the topics can be attached here, what equipment is available.
He also said that if the farmers of the field do not connect what kind of machinery is seeking, the farmers will not be satisfied. This is why the farmers need to be connected. Our research is arranged in this way. It is very important to connect with agriculture and farmers, equipment related and the government. And that’s what we are trying.
